Dedicated to a beloved friend of whom just recently passed away. May you rest in peace and live on in loving memories.

Poem No. 19861127-20121029

When someone dies they leave an empty space
deep inside our hearts that nothing can erase
In that frozen shadow time is standing still
reminding us of those we love today and always will
They're leaving flashing images and calling echoes of themselves
and no one could ever replace the space of somebody else

We shall shiver in the flames of sorrow that will burn
in our hearts knowing our loved ones never will return
Until the day they will stand like so many times before
silently stretching out a hand greeting us at the door
Would you believe in angels and the grace of God's eternity
if when you were to leave all this would be for you to see?

They are reaching out to me and you since we've gone astray
when our lives are through, Heaven? Hell? Come what may
That all of our dear ones living on in loving memory
will light the sky as far off suns for the rest of God's eternity
If we ever loose our way in the darkest winter night without snow
may angels come to find and show the way we know we should go

It is strange just how unpredictable this is what we're calling fate
before I even knew it was far too late, you had nothing more to wait
The wind of death chooses every moment without repent, without lament
I've always seen you as my friend and I will do so until the end
No matter the distance between the days that I saw your pretty face
You're a space I can't erase, not replace and I will miss you always
